This credentialed course is for individuals who maintain medical gas and vacuum systems in healthcare facilities. There are many requirements placed on the manufacturers of medical gas equipment. Once placed in service it becomes the facility’s responsibility to test and document the performance of these vital support systems, and if necessary, facilitate or perform repairs. Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate will have an excellent command of all applicable requirements of this standard and meet federal compliance requirements for Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel. All candidates are required to pass a final written examination administered by Medical Gas Testing & Certification, LLC to qualify as ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel.
Pre-requisite: Candidates for ASSE 6040 certification shall be employed or contracted by a health care facility or be actively engaged in working with medical gas systems. One (1) year minimum experience in the maintenance of the medical gas and vacuum systems is required for placement in this class.

This credential requires a renewal course every 3 years. The course includes 4 hours of review of code, followed by a written exam.
